Jordan Williams scored 16 points and pulled down 13 rebound to lead Maryland to a 75-67 first-round win over N.C. State.
Dino Gregory had 11 points and Terrell Stoglin and Cliff Tucker each chipped in nine for the Maryland, whose only chance to earn an NCAA Tournament berth is to win the ACC Tournament.
The Terrapins never trailed as they opened up a 12-2 lead early and led by nine at the half. They stretched the lead to 16 on Sean Mosley's jumper with 6:15 left and cruised the rest of the way.
The Wolfpack attempted an incredible 80 shots from the field, but they only converted 27 of them for 33.8-percent mark. N.C. State also made just 2 of 17 from three-point range.
Maryland, on the other hand, managed to shoot nearly 45 percent from the field and 79 percent from the free-throw line.
