Holloway leaving Ole Miss; Clemson a possibility?
Ole Miss head basketball coach Andy Kennedy announced Friday that sophomore forward and South Carolina native Murphy Holloway will be leaving the team.
The Irmo, SC native reportedly wants to return to his home state in order to fulfill family obligations and take care of his daughter. It is assumed that Holloway will seek a transfer to a school in South Carolina.
With a player of Holloway's caliber, it is probable that South Carolina and Clemson are the top two (perhaps the only two) possibilities for a transfer destination.
Holloway is a strong, athletic forward (6'7", 230) who posted nearly 10 points and eight rebounds as a sophomore starter for Ole Miss this past season.
He would be a welcomed addition to a thin Clemson frontcourt, especially if the Tigers don't manage to resign prized recruit Marcus Thornton.
Holloway had academic issues coming out of high school, but has had no apparent problems in the classroom while at Ole Miss.
It will be interesting to see how this situation progresses and if Brad Brownell and his staff will pursue Holloway.
